MOVE IT like Lublin

A new training program for transport managers in Chisinau under the EU project "MOVE IT like Lublin"

The European Union has funded a new study visit to Poland as part of the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, dedicated to transport specialists from Chisinau municipality.

The visit took place from May 7th to May 12th and aimed to enhance the capacity of municipal authorities in managing and modernizing urban public transport in line with EU practices in the field of urban mobility.

During their time in Lublin, the representatives from Chisinau visited the Lublin Public Transport Authority (ZTM), the Municipal Transport Company (MPK), the Urban Bus and Trolleybus Park, the Traffic Management Center, a bus terminal, and an under-construction metropolitan station.

The participants had the opportunity to familiarize themselves with the methodology for calculating public transport fares, the work organization of controllers/fare collectors, and the stages of modernizing the public transport system in Lublin.

Additionally, topics such as street lighting systems, road maintenance, route planning, the functioning of the GPS monitoring system, and the mobile application for passengers were discussed.

This visit is part of the planned training activities organized within the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, with the financial support of the European Union.

Context:

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.
