MOVE IT like Lublin

Transfer of experience between the public transport authorities in Lublin and Chisinau, carried out with the support of the European Union project "MOVE IT like Lublin"

Between October 24-29, 2022, representatives of the Public Transport Authority (ZTM) from Lublin, Poland, were on a study visit to Chisinau, organized within the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - sustainable development initiative of public transport in the city of Chisinau, financed by the European Union and implemented by the City Hall of Chisinau.

 

The members of the delegation included: Grzegorz MALEC - general director of ZTM Lublin; Sławomir PODSIADŁY - deputy general manager, Rafal TARNAWSKI - public transport specialist.

During the week, the ZTM experts visited several municipal institutions: General Directorate of Public Transport and Communication Ways, Î.M. "LUMTEH electrical lighting networks", Î.M. "Urban Bus Park" and Î.M. "Regia Transport Electric Chisinau", where they became familiar with the processes of organizing the public transport system in the municipality of Chisinau.

During these visits, training sessions were organized and presentations were made regarding the management of the urban fleet of buses and trolleybuses, the operation of the traffic monitoring system and the implementation of the electronic ticket in public transport.

Other topics addressed refer to the initiatives launched within the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, the development of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the creation of the Municipal Traffic Monitoring Center.

The main purpose of the visit was focused on the transfer of experience and expertise, as well as European best practices for a more efficient management of urban public transport..

Context:

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.
