MOVE IT like Lublin

The EU project "MOVE IT like Lublin" has outlined the main elements that will be included in the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan

With the support of the European Union, the city of Chișinău will develop a safe, sustainable, inclusive, and efficient transportation system.

The project "MOVE IT like Lublin" - the Sustainable Public Transport Development Initiative in Chișinău, funded by the European Union, organized a new discussion session on June 28th regarding the development of sustainable urban mobility in the city.

The online meeting of the Public Transport Working Group included contracted international consultants, municipal advisers, city officials, representatives from general directorates and municipal transport enterprises, urban planners, and other field experts.

This session was part of the consultation cycle that began in May on the vision for the sustainable urban mobility of the capital.

Participants expressed their opinions on the strategic objectives, conceptual scenarios, and key performance indicators proposed by international experts developing the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for the city of Chișinău.

Through this strategic planning document, the local public administration, with the support of the European Union, is set to reconsider urban infrastructure and harmoniously integrate all transportation options in the city: walking and cycling, public and private transport.

The ultimate goal of the SUMP is to ensure the comfort, speed, and efficiency of mobility in the city for the benefit of all residents and guests of the capital. The strategy is expected to include concrete proposals for zoning Chișinău, improving connections between suburbs and the city, expanding the bus and trolleybus fleet, organizing parking, creating infrastructure for cyclists, digitizing the system, and many other aspects for the benefit of citizens.

The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan will be developed by the summer of 2024 by a consortium of 5 international companies, led by CIVITTA Strategy & Consulting S.A. The document will contain a consolidated vision with short, medium, and long-term measures for the development of public transport and the promotion of urban mobility.
