The "MOVE IT Like Lublin" project - participated in the Alternative Transport Festival, organized in the capital
The team of the "MOVE IT like Lublin" Project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, participated in the Festival of Alternative Transport, with the generic "Alternocity Chisinau 2022", organized by the capital's City Administration. The event took place on Sunday, August 28, 2022 and aimed to promote the active mobility of citizens, including walking, using bicycles, scooters, rollerblades, as well as other alternative means of transportation.
On this occasion, the "MOVE IT like Lublin" Project Team set up an information center for Festival visitors on the pedestrian alley on Albișoara Street, where they learned more about the achievements of the project in order to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. During the day, the Project representatives interacted with the visitors, answered their questions and provided visibility materials to the participants who took part in the sports activities.
At the same time, Festival visitors were informed about the European Mobility Week, an initiative of the European Commission, which will take place in the Republic of Moldova between September 16-22, 2022. The annual awareness campaign dedicated to the European Mobility Week aims to promote urban mobility sustainable and encourages behavior change in favor of active mobility, public transport and other smart and clean transport solutions.
Note: The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Administration of Chisinau and the City Administration of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented until 2025. The project provides for the improvement of urban transport policies at the municipal level; increasing the institutional capacities of Chisinau City Administration, in accordance with European Union practices in the field of urban mobility; increasing the quality of public transport management in Chisinau through sustainable innovative solutions and technologies. Additionally, within the project, a modern Traffic Monitoring Center will be established and a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Chisinau will be developed. The project will also digitize operations such as e-ticketing and web applications for public transport, mirroring good practice in European Union cities, including Lublin. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Administration.
