MOVE IT like Lublin

The EU-funded project "MOVE IT like Lublin" joined the European Mobility Week

The project "MOVE IT like Lublin," funded by the European Union and implemented by the Municipality of Chișinău, also joined this year's European Mobility Week. Chișinău, along with other European cities, hosted a series of events dedicated to urban mobility from September 16th to 22nd, 2023.

The main theme of this year's European Mobility Week was "Save Energy", with the slogan "Mix&Move." This theme is relevant in the current context, as the costs associated with public transportation continue to exert significant pressure on city budgets, and the transition to renewable energy sources and reducing energy dependence becomes imperative.

In this context, reducing energy consumption aligns with the overall objectives of European Mobility Week, which aim to encourage sustainable urban mobility, promote public transport, and create urban environments that are friendly to all residents.

Throughout European Mobility Week, the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project and its partners explored options to support these common efforts. Thus, the Technical University of Moldova marked the beginning of activities dedicated to urban mobility with a conference on the theme "Sustainable Urban Mobility - an equitable concept for the development of urban transport infrastructure." The event discussed the impact of mobility on the economy, the environment, health, and our quality of life.

Additionally, the municipal enterprise Regia Transport Electric Chișinău organized several training visits for students from the Faculty of Power Engineering and Electrical Engineering.

On the last day of European Mobility Week, the Technical University of Moldova organized the event "The Faculty of the Future - a different kind of school." Future specialists had the opportunity to become familiar with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) software, understand the importance of spatial data in transport projects, and conduct an analysis of the public transport network in Chișinău

European Mobility Week takes place every year from September 16th to 22nd. This initiative is promoted by the European Commission and aims to implement and promote sustainable transport measures while encouraging the population to use alternative means of transportation.
