MOVE IT like Lublin

A new round of discussions on urban mobility measures took place within the European Union funded project "MOVE IT like Lublin"

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Chisinau Municipal City Hall, organized on Tuesday, January 30, 2024, a new round of discussions on sustainable mobility measures within the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for the Municipality of Chisinau.

The public meeting of the public transport working group was attended by the Deputy Mayor of the capital, Ilie Ceban, heads of municipal transport enterprises, representatives of the General Directorate for Urban Mobility, the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project team, as well as other stakeholders who expressed interest in participating.

Thus, specialists analyzed the package of measures regarding public transport, safety, active mobility, smart mobility, green mobility, and others. The purpose of planning these measures is to develop a structured and comprehensive set of actions and strategies such as: identifying priorities, setting objectives, selecting interventions, evaluating impact, involving stakeholders, ensuring sustainability.

At the same time, during the public meeting, it was presented the current stage of elaboration of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan, including information about vision and performance indicators for priority areas, urban mobility initiatives, and the methodology for prioritizing measures. Experts presented target values for the year 2040 regarding basic performance indicators.

These measures are designed to encourage more sustainable, efficient, and transparent mobility within the urban environment.

Context information:

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.
