MOVE IT like Lublin

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project Steering Committee convened to discuss the completed and planned activities of the Project

The Steering Committee of the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Municipality of Chisinau, met on April 9, 2024, in a new online session, to discuss the progress and planned activities in the fourth year of implementation.

The meeting was attended by members of the Steering Committee, consisting of representatives of the municipality, led by the Mayor, Ion Ceban; representatives from Poland, headed by Krzysztof Stanowski, Director of the International Cooperation Center of the Lublin City Hall; members of the European Union Delegation, including Grodzicki Adam, Deputy Director of the Cooperation Department, Sophansay Phetsamone, Deputy Director of the Finance Department, and Alexandru Munteanu, Project Officer, and the Project Implementation Unit.

Project Manager Olga Lozan presented the progress report for the third year of implementation, including details on budget execution for allocated components during this period.

During the discussions, the planned activities for the fourth year of implementation were also addressed. By the end of July 2024, the development of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan and the Study on the e-ticketing system will be completed, including the installation of equipment, piloting, and testing.

Additionally, in the fourth year, in July, the launch of the Traffic Monitoring Center is planned, along with the development of an application and an information website on public transport, aimed at supporting citizens in its more efficient use.

Context:

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.
