MOVE IT like Lublin

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, funded by the European Union, supports the development of sustainable urban mobility in Chisinau

The project "MOVE IT like Lublin" – the Sustainable Public Transport Development Initiative in the municipality of Chișinău, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Municipality of Chișinău, has completed the procurement process for the development of the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) for the city of Chișinău.

The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP) is a long-term strategic planning document for the development of road and pedestrian infrastructure, public and private transportation, parking organization, the creation of cycling infrastructure, and many other aspects for the benefit of citizens.

The ultimate goal of the SUMP is to promote smart development of the municipality's infrastructure, addressing the basic needs of all citizens in terms of mobility, transforming it into a more accessible, inclusive, and efficient city.

Based on an international procurement procedure, the consortium of consultants led by CIVITTA Strategy & Consulting S.A. was selected for the development of the SUMPlan. The consortium also includes AO Business Consulting Institute, Boğaziçi Proje Mühendislik A.Ş., Rupprecht Consult – Forschung & Beratung GmbH, and TTL Planning S.R.L.

The contract entails conducting a comprehensive analysis of the current situation in the field, a feasibility study, and the development of a new public transportation strategy. The strategy is expected to include concrete proposals for zoning Chișinău, improving connections between suburbs and the city, the plan for expanding the bus and trolleybus fleet, urban parking plans, as well as recommendations for the development of Chișinău as a smart city with environmentally friendly public transportation.

International experts in public transportation, economics, urban mobility, the environment, social aspects, geographic information systems (GIS), intelligent transportation systems (ITS), and other related fields will contribute to the development of the SUMP.
