Study on E-Ticketing for Chișinău Municipality Presented Publicly as Part of the "MOVE IT like Lublin" Project
The "MOVE IT like Lublin" – Sustainable Public Transport Development Initiative for Chișinău Municipality, financed by the European Union and implemented by Chișinău City Hall, announced that the public presentation of the E-Ticketing Study for Chișinău Municipality took place on November 19, 2024.
The presentation was moderated by the consortium team consisting of URBAN SCOPE (leader), the Romanian Smart City Association, and BIZMATTERS CONSULTING.
The event was attended by the Vice Mayor of Chișinău, Ilie Ceban, the Head of the General Directorate for Urban Mobility, Vitalie Mihalache, heads of municipal transport enterprises, representatives of the municipality, members of the public transport working group, stakeholders interested in the topic, and the team of the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project.
The e-ticketing study provides a detailed analysis of the current state of public transport in Chișinău and proposes implementing a modern system based on contactless cards, digital tickets, and mobile applications. This system aims to offer citizens faster access, increased comfort, and a cleaner environment. It includes innovative features such as the ability to purchase tickets through various payment methods, flexible tariff-setting, and the elimination of physical tickets. At the same time, transport operators will benefit from more efficient resource usage and advanced data management.
Benefits of the E-Ticketing System:
- faster access to public transport,
- reduced fraud,
- improved user experience,
- optimization of operator resources.
The implementation of the e-ticketing system will begin with a pilot project on trolleybus route No. 30, which connects the city center with Chișinău International Airport. This initial phase aims to test the technology's functionality and efficiency in a controlled environment, ensuring an optimal experience for both passengers and operators.
Following the evaluation of the results, the e-ticketing system will be progressively expanded citywide, covering both trolleybus and bus networks. This phased approach will allow for the gradual integration of infrastructure and adjustments to the system based on operational requirements and user feedback.
