The European Union’s “MOVE IT like Lublin” Project Presented the Urban Mobility Report for Chișinău Municipality

In the context of developing the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan (SUMP), the “MOVE IT like Lublin” project presented the results of the urban mobility analysis in Chișinău Municipality on January 17, 2023, during the meeting of the Public Transport Working Group at the City Hall.

During the public meeting, experts from the international consortium led by Civitta, the company contracted to develop the SUMP, presented the main issues identified in urban mobility, traffic management, and parking.

At the same time, the team of consultants identified citizens’ priorities regarding sustainable urban mobility and formulated a set of important proposals for the municipality to achieve the objectives of developing a comprehensive mobility plan.

The event was attended by the leadership of Chișinău City Hall, the implementation team of the “MOVE IT like Lublin” project, representatives of the General Directorate for Urban Mobility, the General Directorate for Architecture, Urban Planning, and Land Relations, and other experts in the field.

The Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan will be developed over two years and will serve as a strategic document for integrated mobility, with clear objectives and targets aimed at improving accessibility and quality of life.

Background Information:

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.
