European Union provides support for the sustainable development of Chisinau municipality public transport system

On January 19, the current year, the "MOVE IT like Lublin" Project was launched – the Sustainable Public Transport Development Initiative in the municipality of Chișinău, funded by the European Union. The project aims to improve the public transportation system in Chișinău and is implemented through a partnership between the Municipality of Chișinău and the Municipality of Lublin in Poland.

The project will be implemented until the year 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transportation services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient, and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is 3,500,000 Euros, of which 3,325,000 Euros are the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 Euros are allocated by the Municipality of Chișinău.

Within the project, the Municipality of Chișinău, in close collaboration with the Municipality of Lublin, will pursue three main objectives: i) improve urban transport policies at the municipal level; ii) enhance the institutional capacities of the Chișinău City Hall in line with European Union practices in urban mobility; iii) increase the quality of public transportation management in Chișinău by implementing sustainable innovative solutions and technologies. Additionally, the project will establish a modern Traffic Monitoring Center, and a Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Chișinău will be developed.
