Results of the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project in almost five years of activity
The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Chisinau City Hall in partnership with the city of Lublin, Poland, was completed after almost five years of activity.
The objective of the project was to support local authorities in Chisinau in transforming municipal public transport into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport, by improving public transport policies at the municipal level, increasing the institutional capacity of the Chisinau City Hall in the field of urban mobility, increasing the quality of public transport management by implementing innovative solutions and technologies.
- During the project, trainings and exchanges of experience and good practices were organized between Chisinau and Lublin for specialists in the field of public transport, and representatives of the municipality participated in several international events in the field.
- The Traffic Monitoring Center was created, which will provide a complete vision of the transport situation in Chisinau, following the integration and analysis of data from multiple sources.
- Also, the Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan for Chisinau was developed, which serves as a strategic framework for the modernization of transport and the promotion of environmentally friendly mobility.
- At the same time, reports and local policy documents in the field of public transport and urban mobility were developed, inspired by good European practices.
- Information campaigns were carried out for citizens, as well as awareness-raising and encouragement actions for the use of public and alternative transport.
- The Study on the electronic ticket in municipal transport was developed, which found solutions adapted to the realities of Chisinau.
- As part of the project, the e-ticketing system was tested on route 30, to evaluate its functionality and identify the optimal way to use it in public transport.
- As part of the project, a significant number of buses and trolleybuses were equipped with bactericidal devices that purify the air and combat the spread of respiratory infections.
- Managers of municipal transport institutions in Chisinau conducted study visits to the cities of Prague and Brno (Czech Republic), Amsterdam, Utrecht (Netherlands), to familiarize themselves with best practices in the development of urban public transport.
- Contests and initiatives to promote urban mobility were also organized, which encouraged community involvement.
- The partners in Lublin organized the Congress for Cross-Border Cooperation, a platform for dialogue between local administrations, non-governmental organizations, the cultural, scientific and business environment, and the Forum for Cross-Border Cooperation in the field of transport.
In addition to the aforementioned activities, the project also included other various initiatives aimed at supporting the sustainable development of urban mobility.
The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project thanks its partners, including the Chisinau City Hall and the Lublin City Hall, Poland, as well as the other institutions and residents who contributed to its implementation. We want to continue this collaboration in other projects and initiatives, to further support the development of sustainable urban mobility in Chisinau.

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.
