The results of the "Urban Adventure" contest within the "MOVE IT like Lublin" project

The “MOVE IT like Lublin” project, financed by the European Union and implemented by the City Hall of Chișinău, successfully organized the “Aventura Urbana” contest as part of the European Mobility Week, which took place from September 16 to 22, 2024. The contest aimed to promote an active and sustainable lifestyle, encouraging the residents of the capital to adopt eco-friendly means of transportation such as walking, cycling, and electric scooters.

Over 200 participants took part in the challenge, having the opportunity to contribute to reducing pollution and improving the quality of urban life through their daily physical activity.

The award ceremony for the winners took place on October 2, 2024, and was attended by:

Ilie Ceban, Deputy Mayor of the capital;

Jan Demidovitš-Mekeläinen, Project Manager from the Delegation of the European Union;

Olga Lozan, Manager of the “MOVE IT like Lublin” project;

Representatives of the sponsors: Constantin Toncoglaz (Balkan Pharmaceuticals), Tatiana Marcu (Moldindconbank), and Elena Manica (Bolt);

The winners of the “Urban Adventure” contest were awarded in three categories: bicycle, scooter, and walking. They received prizes with the support of the contest partners:

1st Place: Moldindconbank card with 5,000 MDL, 50 free rides with Bolt scooters, and a 2,000 MDL voucher from Balkan Pharmaceuticals.

2nd Place: A quarterly free trolleybus pass, 10 free rides with Bolt scooters, and a 1,500 MDL voucher from Balkan Pharmaceuticals.

3rd Place: 25 free rides with Bolt scooters and a 1,000 MDL voucher from Balkan Pharmaceuticals.

The winners, selected through the random.org platform, are:

Scooter Category: Dumitru Borș (1st Place), Luca Daniel (2nd Place), Valentin Țurcan (3rd Place).

Bicycle Category: Natalia Bodrug (1st Place), Marcel Gorun (2nd Place), Pavel Rotari (3rd Place).

Walking Category: Ludmila Cebanu (1st Place), Cusnir Lilian (2nd Place), Anton Balan (3rd Place).

Through the “Aventura Urbana” contest, the organizers and partners succeeded in raising awareness about the importance of an active lifestyle and promoting sustainable mobility in Chișinău.

About the European Mobility Week:

This annual event, held from September 16 to 22, aims to promote sustainable urban mobility. This year’s theme, “Shared Public Space,” emphasized the need to transform cities into accessible and safe spaces for all citizens, with a special focus on pedestrians and cyclists.

Context information:

The "MOVE IT like Lublin" project - the initiative for the sustainable development of public transport in the municipality of Chisinau, financed by the European Union, is implemented on the basis of a partnership between the City Hall of Chisinau and the City Hall of Lublin in Poland. The project will be implemented by 2025 and will provide support to transform the city's public transport services into a more inclusive, safer, more resilient and sustainable transport system. The total budget of the project is in the amount of 3,500,000 euros, of which 3,325,000 euros is the contribution of the European Union in the form of a grant, and 175,000 euros are allocated by the Chisinau City Hall.
